Stewart Copeland - 2005 Modern Drummer HALL OF FAMER

I just got my July 2005 Modern Drummer magazine a few days ago. And as we drummers know it, it is every July when MD publishes the Readers' Poll results. And finally, Stewart Copeland is inducted to MD's prestigious Hall of Fame.

Mr. Copeland is well-known for his works with The Police, and is also an accomplished musical arranger & composer. He's one of the most innovative drummers of our time, with his eclectic style (a fusion of ska, reggae, punk, rock & pop), his innovative hi-hat & cymbal work & his creative yet musical approach. His drumming has influenced plenty of today's top drummers, such as Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and Adrian Young (No Doubt).

I love the fact that Mr. Copeland is finally in the Hall of Fame. Though there are still plenty of important & deserving drummers who are yet to be recognized with this award. My personal list includes: David Garibaldi, Rod Morgenstein, Gregg Bissonette, Ginger Baker, Peter Erskine, Charlie Watts, Mitch Mitchell, Virgil Donati, Carter Beauford, Phil Collins & Lars Ulrich (Yes, Lars the man! He's a mainstay in MD Reader's Poll's Rock & Metal categories for many years!).
